Meteor: Traditional beer brewers since 1640

I visited Meteor, the biggest independent, family-owned brewery in France. It’s located in Hochfelden, a small village in Alsace, a few miles north of Strasbourg. Here I met Edouard Haag, 8th generation and actual director. As a child, he opften visited his grandmother which lifes in the brewery: «I spent a lot of time in this brewery – playing, running, when I was a child».

He showed me his wonderful brewery which has some special features for example a tunnel for the logistics of the bottles and kegs and a huge mash filter, a technology I saw the first time in my life. And of course, they have a brewhouse, all in copper, with which they brew 500’000hl beer per year.
